It
is estimated that 14 billion pounds of rubbish was being dumped into the ocean
every year, since 1988 it has been illegal for ships/boats to dump plastic into
the ocean.
Plastic can be used for a container, a wrapper, or a product itself. Plastic is an everyday part of our lives, the material diabetics use for their disposable needles, arthritic patients have for their replaced hips and what construction workers wear to protect their heads.
The bad affect is plastic is reaching the sea, it poses a threat to the animals that depend on the ocean for food. For example, if a sea turtle saw a floating plastic bag that they thought looked like a jellyfish, if the sea turtle attempted to eat it, it could choke on the plastic or suffocate. As more products are being made from plastic, more waste plastic mounts up, and so too does the danger to sea life.

My photographs have been taken at Goodrington beach in Paignton during sun set. I was influenced to being this topic as I regularly take pictures at costal locations meaning that the sea is part of my topic. My theme was sea pollution and how rubbish washes up on our beaches because people dump it into the sea. To do my photo shoot I used my Nikon camera that was fixed to my tripod to get an equal shot on the focus. I’m going to try to achieve the style of Hilder and Bernard Beschers work into my work to show the difference between different types of rubbish found within a beach due to rubbish pollution and present it in a collage. During the photo shoot I have learn a number of things such as it is estimated that 14 billion pounds of rubbish was being dumped into the ocean every year, since 1988 it has been illegal for ships/boats to dump plastic into the ocean. In my opinion, the major part that was disappointing about my photo shoot was the natural lighting was very dull and I think this has affected the quality of my images. In my opinion, the thing that went particularly well about my photo shoot would be that you can clearly see that I took the images in the style of Hilder and Bernard Bescher which showed my topic, sea pollution.
