Thirds, you should position the most important parts in your scene along these
lines, or at the parts where they cross. Your image is divided into 9 equal
parts by 2 vertical and 2 horizontal lines, as shown in the pictures. By doing
this it will add more balance and interest to your photo’s. Some camera’s have
an option to superimpose a rule of thirds grid over the LCD screen.
Horizontal camera angles
suggest a calm feel to a picture,
but vertical ones suggest permanence and stability. To suggest a feeling of drama, movement or uncertainty,
try and use diagonal angles instead. You can also use diagonal lines artificially
by using the ‘Dutch Tilt’ technique. You tilt the camera as you take the photo,
this can be very effective, but it
doesn’t suit every shot.
